Questions people ask

What are the minimum age and height requirements?

For most family and children's sessions you need to be at least 8 years old and 125cm tall, though the Birmingham City track requires 147cm at the same minimum age. Adult-only events like Unlimited Racing or Grand Prix nights are restricted to those aged 16 and over. York additionally offers a Bambino kart option for children from age 4.

What happens if it's raining on the day of my session?

Because every Teamworks track is housed indoors, wet weather has no impact on whether your session goes ahead. You can turn up and race regardless of the forecast outside.

What should I wear for karting?

Dress for the indoor temperature, which mirrors the weather outside, so shorts and t-shirts in summer and warmer layers like jeans and a hoody in winter. Closed-toe shoes such as trainers are required, and open footwear like flip-flops or heels isn't allowed. A race suit is provided to wear over your own clothes.

How long does a typical session take from start to finish?

The popular Karting 30 format lasts around 75 minutes in total, which covers briefing, race time and getting kitted out, even though the actual on-track racing is 30 minutes. Longer formats like Unlimited Racing or Team Endurance can run from 2 to 3 hours depending on the package chosen.

Is there a minimum number of people needed to book?

No, you can book as an individual into any of the open sessions without needing to bring a group. Larger formats like Team Endurance or Grand Prix events do have their own group size guidelines, so it's worth checking those before booking.

Do children need an adult with them to race?

Yes, any karting customer under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or over who stays at the venue for the whole event. The adult isn't required to race themselves, but the young driver won't be allowed on track without them present.

Is there a weight limit for driving the karts?

There's no official weight cutoff, but the operator notes that drivers over roughly 17 stone or taller than 6ft4 may find the karts a tight fit. If you're concerned about comfort, you can visit beforehand to try sitting in a kart.

Can I have a drink before or during my karting session?

Drivers are expected to be fit to race in a state equivalent to being legally allowed to drive on the road, so alcohol isn't permitted during a karting event itself. Those taking part in Simulator Racing instead can have a beer during their session, subject to the venue's age rules.
