The youngest drivers can start on the Cadet karts from age 8, provided they're at least 1.2m tall. Older age groups move up to Junior and then Senior karts, which have higher age and height requirements.

Sessions still go ahead in wet weather. The race suits supplied aren't waterproof, so it's worth packing a spare set of clothes and an old pair of shoes, since your footwear and clothing may get damp and dirty on a wet track.

Stretton supplies a racesuit, gloves and helmet, but you'll need to bring your own enclosed shoes - open-toed footwear or sandals aren't allowed. If the weather looks wet, bring older shoes and a change of clothes.

You'll first go through a recorded safety briefing that meets National Karting Association standards, followed by a circuit-specific briefing covering braking points and racing lines. After kitting up, every session begins with a slow installation lap behind a marshal before the timed laps start.

No minimum group size applies - solo drivers can take part - though the venue notes that many of its events are typically booked by groups of 10 to 80 people.

Yes, spectators are welcome. There's a clubhouse and reception area to relax in, plus an outdoor patio next to the pit straight, and a licensed bar with catering options for those watching on.

If you give at least 72 hours' notice and the venue manages to resell your time slot, your payment can be moved to a future date. Without both of those conditions being met, the deposit or balance you've paid is forfeited.

Yes - anyone under 16 must have a parent or guardian with them at all times while on site.
