About Midland Karting

Midland Karting is an outdoor karting centre on Wood End Lane near Lichfield, laid out on part of a former airfield. It runs three separate circuits: a Premier Circuit for adults and older juniors, a Kids Circuit, and a Family Circuit used for the youngest drivers.

The hire fleet is TBKart throughout, with R25 270cc karts for adults, R13 160cc karts for juniors from age 8 and Bambino karts for 4 to 7 year olds. Experienced drivers can book one-to-one tuition in the faster RMAX kart, and hand-controlled R25s are kept for disabled drivers.

Alongside practice sessions, sprint and endurance races, the venue hosts owner karts, pit bikes and mini motos on Mondays and Tuesdays and is home to a race team with Bambino to Senior classes. It suits families with young children, groups and newcomers working towards club racing.

Top speed of 50mph is the operator's published figure, not an independent measurement.

Which circuit can they drive?

Different circuits here take different ages, so the headline minimum isn't the whole story.

Premier Circuit TBKart R25 270cc · TBKart R13 160cc · TBKart RMAX The main adult circuit. Race School (ages 8-16, from 1.2 m) and owner-kart practice (8+, from 1.2 m) run here; adult practice sessions are 12+ and at least 1.5 m tall, and most adult races, stag/hen and corporate events are 16+. RMAX lessons are 12+, 145 cm+, and need six months' karting experience plus an assessment in an R25 first.

Kids Circuit TBKart R13 160cc Dedicated circuit for children's practice sessions, ages 8-12. The practice page gives a 1.5 m minimum height, while other junior pages give 1.2 m, so the height rule should be confirmed with the venue.

One thing we're checking: The 50 mph figure is claimed for the R25 adult kart. The RMAX used for one-to-one tuition is claimed at up to 80 mph and 23 bhp. Hand-controlled R25 karts are available for disabled drivers aged 12+.
