Planning your visit

In the rainKarting usually continues in most weather, but sessions may be cancelled for heavy rain, snow or ice. If the venue cancels, they will try to rearrange your session or issue a refund if that's not possible. If a customer chooses to cancel due to rain while the circuit is still open, the deposit is forfeited.

Questions people ask

What is the minimum age and height to drive?

Drivers need to have already turned 6 (not just be turning 6 that year) and be at least a metre tall to take the wheel of a Bambino kart on the family circuit. Older age brackets apply for Cadet, Junior and Senior karts, with adults needing to be 17 or over to use the twin-engine Senior ProKarts.

What happens if it rains on the day of my session?

Karting generally carries on through light rain, but the track may close if conditions become too severe, such as heavy rain, snow or ice. Staff will try to get in touch beforehand to move your booking to another date, and if that's not possible you'll get your money back. Choosing to pull out yourself while the track is still running normally means you'd lose your deposit though.

What should I wear for a session?

Dress for the weather and stick to closed, flat footwear like trainers or boots — sandals, heels and open-toe shoes aren't permitted and could stop you from driving. Suits, helmets and gloves are supplied, though you're welcome to bring your own full-face helmet and a clean suit if you prefer.

How long before my session should I arrive?

Plan to get there about three-quarters of an hour ahead of your start time so there's room for signing in, kitting up in your race suit, and going through the safety talk. Younger drivers also get a brief brake test before they're sent out.

Is there a minimum number of people needed to book?

Some of the organised group formats have a set minimum: the Lydd15 package needs at least five drivers, while the longer Lydd30, Lydd45 and Lydd60 formats each require a minimum of eight. The endurance team events need at least ten teams entered.

Can friends and family come and watch?

Yes — spectators are welcome to watch from trackside, the elevated viewing platform, or from within the clubhouse itself without needing to take part.

Is my session private, or could other people join in?

It depends what you've booked. Short adult formats like Lydd15 and Lydd30 aren't exclusive, so other groups could be added alongside you, whereas the longer Lydd45, Lydd60, Lydd90 and Lydd120 formats are booked as exclusive-use sessions.

How is my booking made and secured?

There's no online booking system — everything is arranged by phone, and a deposit of 50% of the cost is needed to hold your place.
